JUNE PRODUCT OF THE MONTH

Airtek offers a complete line of compressed air drying and filtration equipment. Their efforts are award winning and the innovative designs offer quality-engineered solutions for the most demanding industrial requirements, below are the various units available.

. Plant Air Systems Basics .

Since all atmospheric air contains some water vapour and particulate matter, all compressed air systems contain concentrated volumes of moisture and contaminants. To remove moisture and contaminants from a compressed air system, the following equipment should be considered:

Aftercoolers are a necessary first step in compressed air treatment. They lower the compressed air temperature to acceptable inlet conditions for air dryers, and remove up to 70% of the entrained water vapour. Depending on site conditions and utilities, aftercoolers are available in water-cooled or air-cooled configurations. Where water and electric are not available, air cooled aftercoolers with air driven motors are available.

Air Dryers are used to lower the dew point temperature of compressed air, further reducing the amount of water vapour remaining in the process airflow. If applied correctly, a compressed air dryer should eliminate the possibility of liquid water forming in any downstream piping. Refrigerated Air Dryers lower dew point by reducing the actual air temperature to near freezing conditions, causing moisture to condense from the air. Once the water is removed via centrifugal action, the air is reheated to a usable temperature. Desiccant Air Dryers use the chemical adsorption method of drying and can achieve dewpoints as low as -365 F.

• Coalescing Filters collect and extract liquid water and oil.
• Particulate Filters
trap unwanted solid contaminants.
• Adsorbing Filters
soften odors and polish compressed air.
• Separators & Drains
remove collected liquids and are used in various locations throughout an air system.

PIONEERING PRODUCTS AND SYSTEMS

IIncrease your productivity and reduce your costs with VGS™3010

  • Faster response time, Lower energy cost, Higher operation reliability
  • Easy selection and sizing — Knowledge about your specific vacuum flow, level or volume requirements are not required. Only feed pressure and the material being handled determine the optimal VGS™3010 for your application.
  • Improved grip, lifting capacity and wear resistance with DURAFLEX® cups — Provides up to 50% higher frictional grip as compared to conventional cups.
  • ASK SKEANS TO VIEW OUR VGS3010 SAMPLE

Innovative materials in PIAB's suction cups

The material properties of the suction cups are crucial for the function. Piab can create perfectly adapted suction cups when it comes to pliability, durability and chemical resistance. Thanks to the built-in filter, the vacuum system is also protected against foreign particles, something that is of great importance in terms of maintenance requirements.

PIAB Energy Savings

One way of saving additional energy is to use the PIAB energy saving (ES) system. The ES system is a pneumatic control system that shuts off the vacuum pump as soon as the required vacuum level has been reached, thus minimising the compressed air consumption of the vacuum pump. When the vacuum drops below the start-up level, the pump automatically restarts. The energy saving system is most useful in airtight systems.

NOVEMBER EMPLOYEE PNEUS

Skeans United Way "Kick off to contributions 2007" Campaign was November 15 - 17, 2006

Skeans Engineering & Machinery has been involved in community and charitable donations since it's inception and has been a United Way Member since 1991.  In the late 90's Skeans attained our Gold Member status with the United Way, and are proud to have donated over $125,000 to our surrounding communities and to causes like ALS, The Canadian Cancer Society, The Heart and Stoke Foundation and many many other important associations in the years we've been working with the United Way. Over 75% of our employees donate each month to the United Way through payroll deductions and in December of every year the Company matches dollar for dollar.

During our contribution awareness and fund raising week our Corporate Office in Coquitlam holds several events to get the employees involved, we use competition and events to facilitate awareness, and as the campaign winds down we award prizes and recognize achievements.  This year we will start out with a kick off breakfast Wednesday AM, followed by many NEW events for 2007 like darts, a dessert walk, a scavenger hunt, chair races, and finally a wrap up lunch on Friday afternoon.  These events are fun and get people involved.  During our Wednesday morning kick off breakfast a United Way representative will be on site to tell us more about the United Way and how our contributions help those people who need it most right here in our own communities.  At the end of the campaign we ask employees to pledge their monthly payroll deduction for the new year.
